This year the Growler is collaborating with Dig for Duke, a 501c3 Charity run by 17-year-old Andrea Cornel. Dig for Duke has raised almost $25,000 over the past 5 years for Duke Children’s Hospital, and this year Andrea is working with the Growler to help raise some additional money for Duke Children’s Hospital. Andrea founded the Dig for Duke volleyball tournament several years ago with a friend at the age of 11..
Andrea is the daughter of one of our players and she learned about a month ago she has cancer. In a strange and horrible consequence, she never figured that she was promoting a charity tournament that would support her own illness. She’s an amazing young lady.
Growler is supporting Andrea through the online auction and they are also going to set up a serving competition on the tennis courts on Growler nights to raise money for Dig for Duke. Here are some links to the auction and her Dig for Duke site.
