The Spirit of the Growler
As the Growler volleyball tournament has grown, each year since 2014 we have sought out a local family to support in addition to St. Baldrick’s. It’s not necessarily the money we raise for the family, but it’s more about making the children feel loved and supporting the family. It helps show that there are community members that have their back.

- In the U.S., one in five children diagnosed with cancer will not survive.
- Of the U.S. federal funding for cancer research, only 4 percent is solely dedicated to childhood cancers.
- More children are lost to cancer in the U.S. than any other disease — in fact, more than many other childhood diseases combined.
- Before age 20, about 1 in 285 children in the US will have cancer
- As of 2017, SB has granted over $200M in childhood cancer research since 2005
- St. Baldrick’s Foundation is considered the largest non-government funder of childhood cancer grants worldwide.
- In 2017, over 1,000 events were hosted and more than 36,000 people registered to shave their heads.
