2018 Update – Today, Bryce is a happy, healthy 16-year-old boy about to begin his junior year in high school. He continues to be followed closely by the team at the UNC Pediatric Cancer Center. Throughout his treatment and still today, our family has been touched by countless family members, friends and even strangers who are in some way connected to this group we never chose to or imagined we would be a part of.

We have worked with and supported St. Baldrick’s and The Make-a-Wish Foundation in an effort to help their fundraising efforts which will one day cure pediatric cancer. Bryce is considering a career as a Pediatric Oncologist, but we will wait to see where God leads him.

2015 – On April 4th, 2012, our lives were forever changed. Bryce Washington, who was 10 years old at the time, was diagnosed with High Risk Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia after 6 months of joint pain and innumerable diagnostic tests. He promptly started what would be greater than three years of chemotherapy on April 6th, his brother’s 12th birthday. We traveled down an unimaginable path, one that no one, let alone a child should have to travel. He was forced to grow up way too soon. Bryce’s faith brought him through so many ups and downs. His treatment ended on July 18, 2015, when he took his last chemo pill! He has continued to do well, although his body took such a beating, it took well over a year off of treatment to begin to rebound.
