Growler Week 3 Results

Let the Tournament Begin… next week!

Some news and notes the day after…

  • The results from Week 3 have been posted on the Growler website: https://growlervolleyball.com/volleyball-events/growler/
  • PRELIMINARY GPI has been calculated and is also viewable off the link above – click “here” on the top of the page. Then click on the “GPI Ranking-Seeding” Tab or the “Championship” Tab to see where you stand (NOTE: Donations were calculated as of 1pm today – Volunteering as of Monday). We will update this info again with new Volunteering info later today, so check back tomorrow for any changes. As I hope you know, GPI is comprised of Wins, Pt Differential, Division Difficulty, Volunteering and Money raised. So at this point you can still improve the last 2. BTW, Giving made a nice push to over $113K (we were at $120,000 last year at this point ($118k in ’24). Also NOTE… 10 teams are currently below the $1500 requirement on the SB page (2 are involved with Growler Masters and 2 with GrowlHer so will be fine) The other 6 have some work to do… please don’t lose your spot :). We won’t repull this info until Saturday night so this is your only sneak peak.
  • The “First 8” is on Monday Night (8/18) at Springdale… please be cognizant of whether you are in range of having to play in one of those games (a.k.a. plan accordingly). Of course the initial GPI will give some insight to that. What is posted now online is NOT “final”. The games will be played on Court 1 between 6pm and 8pm. All eyes are on you!! We will have water and beer on hand and working to have some finger food available (if possible). Let’s get some eyes on these folks :)
  • We are trying a new Sponsor recognition Monday night as well. A chance for Sponsors to meet the Leadership Team and each other… as well as see some of the players who will be in attendance. Hoping for a good crowd. To that end the Leesville HS Guitar Club will also be playing live during the 6-8pm time slot.
  • The Division Championship Trophies will be handed out at 7pm also… so if you want to grab a quick beer and celebrate the winning teams please feel free to come by and see the Division Trophies be handed out. Champs please have a representative present Monday night to receive the trophy.
  • To that end… Here they are:
    • The stephens, martin, VAUGHN, & TADYCH A Division Champs: Volleywood (Repeat Champs)
    • The Cristine Allison Bespoke Realty B Division Champs: Hit That Thang (Pulled a Wrexham)
    • The Stancil and Company C Division Champs: How I Set your Mother (Relegated, Rebranded, and Promoted)
    • The National Power D Division Champs: El Toro’s Revenge (Long Time, First Time)
  • In the B division there was a 3 way tie that was broken by Head to Head. In D, the Tie breaker was also Head to Head. You can see this info here: https://growlervolleyball.com/volleyball-events/growler/ under “Growler Night 3 Schedule and Results”.
  • We are back at just Springdale next week. Food at Springdale will be provided by Gonza, Ruckus, Salt and Lime, Sharky’s, and Lynnwood Grill… with a late night delivery of sustenance by Wicked Links. We should have tremendous food options and a large quantity so please come on out and celebrate the end of Growler 2025. NOTE: Jersey Mike’s will also have a sub for each player in the GFL Player Pavilion once again. Pepsi will have Gatorade, water and soda throughout. Campbell water will also be available near the Beer garden. Beer will be provided by LBC and we’ll have box wine and White Claws available as well.
  • The weather was sloppy Tuesday but we did our best! Given more rain today, we likely thread the needle about as well as we could. The courts need some drying time for sure. I am betting there are some sore elbows from the “heavy” balls today. All in all I appreciate all teams doing what they could to get through the night. We had one injury unrelated to the rain but always hate to see that. If you know what happened and to whom.. reach out over the next few weeks to check in. Nothing critical, but totally unfortunate. Here’s hoping the weather is nice and dry Saturday (Growler Masters), Monday (First four), and especially next Tuesday (Championship Tuesday)!!
  • Up to 205 player pages under St Baldrick’s Growler page. BIG JUMP!! (209 last year, 211 in ’24). Thanks to all who have fundraised so far!! I know of some money on the way, so despite being slightly down from last year I would call us virtually “on pace”. Keep grinding!
  • As always, Volunteers are still needed (25 spots next Tues and 15 spots the following Sat Clean up), so please come out and help if you can! (https://growlervolleyball.com/player-info/volunteer/). We count these hours toward GPI “on faith”… so if you need the Hours/Pts in that area this is a great opportunity to grab them. Master has 5 open spots as well. Just an FYI No GROWLeadERship Mtgs or Planning is included in the volunteering #s. It is 100% the roles required to pull off the specific events themselves that you see via this link (in case you wondered).
  • A reminder from the desk of Mark Williams… in preparation for your final Team Rankings:
  • Timelines
    • SAT 8/17 6pm- SB deadline for donations and volunteering commitments to factor into Team ranking.
    • SUN 8/18 Midday- Mark/Eric to compile final team rankings / SB earnings. Then post Final night 32 team single elimination brackets/schedule and MOST Importantly “First 8” matchups. Not a lot of time between announcement and Monday night so again… be prepared if it “could be you”. There will be some last minute jostling for position for sure.
  • Players that are Shaving- After you know you’re schedule of games – Please sign up for a slot to Shave your head no later than Monday night at 9PM (We have 7 signed up so far): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1HCBApVqNUF9T1KGAXGCdq2ymeV5M8o4tHrD-qxkM7X0/edit?gid=0#gid=0
  • A quick view of the Lost and Found at SARC. If you see anything that looks familiar please go pick it up :)

LASTLY!!!
