First off… what a successful GrowlHer on Saturday!! The ladies brought it for sure! Congrats to “Set-sy and We Know It!” for their 3-peat title.

Lots of amazing games, and the final against Volley Llamas went to 29-27 before a champ was crowned. We’ll get a highlight video out this week capturing what was a great day. A bit hot in the sun, but as I heard many times and in many places Saturday… Great Vibes :) Thanks to Lake Park and the “Her” leaders for a great event!! Still my favorite event to attend :)
The Week 3 game schedule is located on the website and linked here… https://growlervolleyball.com/. Please be ready 30 minutes prior to your first game. The scheduled start times for all games are somewhat flexible (given the variable length of preceding games), so please be ready to play when your time comes (which might not be the time on the schedule itself 😉). Everyone will play 4 games! Division champs will be determined, and EVERY division race is tight at the moment. Lots of opportunity for movement.
We are once again back at the 3 host locations this week (Greystone, Lake Park, and Springdale). Food at Springdale will be provided by Carolina Ale House, Holly Dogs, and City BBQ. Food at Lake Park will be Manchester’s BBQ and Piper’s Tavern Pizza. Greystone will offer V-Pizza and Jersey Mikes. Beer options will be provided by Deep River and Gizmo. Seltzer from White Claw and wine will be at all 3 locations.
Volunteers are still needed for Week 3, so please come out and help if you can! We specifically need some help at SARC. Please sign up for that if you can assist. https://growlervolleyball.com/player-info/volunteer/ Only 54 of 98 spots filled.
Head shaving sign-up sheet is now available… https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1vDjClLcecHwoE_Xmj5R23GCV70DDEGpluZJCcUvWDA4/edit?gid=0#gid=0
Of course, some need to see when they play before they can sign up. But for those not playing… “Have at it.” If at all possible, please pick a time slot by Monday, 8/17 (no later than 5pm). It will truly help the shaving go much smoother if we can get folks to pick a time slot prior to the final night.
We are at 201 participant registrations under the 2026 Growler St. Baldrick’s page (up 5 from ’25, down 5 from ’24)! Also, as of the sending of this email, we are over $114k donated to St. Baldrick’s! Just for the sake of comparison, we were at $100K at this point last year ($108K in ’24). We are doing AMAZING!! We can beat $222K! That being said, more participant pages would help (wink wink).
We are busy calculating volunteer hours and adding all non-SB donations to your team totals. Once that is done and the games are played tomorrow night, we will have the preliminary GPI available on Wednesday so you can see where you are likely to be slotted in the tournament. Final Volunteering and Giving numbers won’t be closed until Midnight Friday (other than Masters-specific numbers)… So it will be tentative, but all the volleyball aspects will be “fixed” after tomorrow. Again, I hope to have the GPI out Wednesday.
Please help keep your general area clean… We have a multitude of trash cans at SARC (provided by our partner GFL), so locating the trash should not be an issue. Please do the same at LP and GS. We did really well at all locations on Week 2!!
WEATHER UPDATE: After a terrible week 1 and a sketchy week 2 that eventually panned out OK… Tomorrow looks to be our best chance at a dry day. Fingers and toes crossed.
Remember the Growler Masters is Saturday at 10am at Greystone. More specifics on that later this week.
